Copilot Cowork is part of the Microsoft 365 Copilot family, designed to help teams work together more efficiently inside the Microsoft 365 environment. It builds on the capabilities of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft 365 Copilot to reimagine how people collaborate on documents, projects, and day-to-day tasks.
Instead of treating AI as a separate tool, Copilot Cowork is positioned as a coworker inside your existing Microsoft 365 apps, helping you draft, summarize, organize, and coordinate work across your team.
How does Copilot Cowork pricing work?
Copilot Cowork uses a pricing model that is designed to be predictable and manageable for organizations already using Microsoft 365. While the detailed price points are outlined in the official blog, the key idea is that you can estimate your spend in advance based on how many people will be using Copilot Cowork and how it will be rolled out across your organization.
The blog walks through how to think about total cost, including how Copilot Cowork layers on top of your existing Microsoft 365 investment. This helps finance, IT, and business leaders plan budgets and adoption timelines with more confidence.
What controls do we have to manage Copilot Cowork usage and cost?
Microsoft is providing administrative controls so organizations can manage how Copilot Cowork is used and how much they spend. From the information shared, these controls are focused on:
- Access management – deciding who in the organization can use Copilot Cowork and in which contexts.
- Usage governance – setting policies for how Copilot Cowork is used within Microsoft 365 apps.
- Cost management – giving you ways to align Copilot Cowork usage with your budget and adoption strategy.
The goal is to help organizations reshape how teams work together with AI while still keeping clear oversight of usage and spend.
